Technology
Endazhi-Nitaawiging uses a small set of trusted tools to keep student technology secure, support learning, and build real-world digital skills. This page explains what we use, why we use it, and what privacy safeguards are in place.
Digital Safety & Classroom Management: GoGuardian
GoGuardian provides web filtering and classroom management on school-issued devices to help students stay focused on learning and protected from inappropriate online content.
Purpose
- Safety & filtering: Blocks harmful content in real time.
- Classroom management: Helps teachers keep students on-task during instruction.
Common Teacher Tools
- View active tabs
- Push approved websites/resources to student screens
- Close distracting tabs
- Private teacher-to-student chat for support
Privacy & Boundaries
- Active only on school-owned devices and school-issued accounts.
- Classroom monitoring is limited to school hours and accessible only by the student’s assigned teachers.
- No access to camera or microphone; no video/audio recording.
- No GPS tracking is used; location is only relevant in rare lost/stolen device recovery situations.
Student Technology Access: Google Unified Sign-On (GCPW)
Students log into school computers using their official school Google credentials. This creates a secure single sign-on experience across school devices and learning tools.
How it Works
- No separate Windows password required.
- Logging in signs the student into Chrome, Google Classroom, and connected tools.
- Student settings/files sync across school devices.
- Password updates sync centrally through Google.
Privacy & Security
- Core Google Workspace services do not include advertising or commercial data use.
- IT administrators can reset passwords, lock compromised devices, and apply security updates.
- Login/device usage logs are maintained for educational management and safety monitoring.
Responsible Use
- Students must keep Google credentials private (no password sharing).
- Devices must be cared for and issues reported promptly.
- All activity is subject to the school’s Acceptable Use Policy.
Creative Suite: GIMP, Audacity, and OpenShot
Endazhi-Nitaawiging uses a curated creative suite—GIMP (graphic design), Audacity (audio), and OpenShot (video)—to help students build real, transferable multimedia skills without expensive subscription fees.
GIMP
Graphic design and image editing (layers, composition, design thinking).
Audacity
Audio production (recording, editing, multi-track mixing).
OpenShot
Video editing (non-linear timeline editing and multimedia storytelling).
Privacy Note
- These are local applications that run on the computer (not ad-driven web tools).
- No ads, tracking cookies, or marketing data harvesting.
- Student files remain under student/school control on local storage.
